Oh. my. gosh.
These guys. I don’t even know where to start. This wedding was incredible.
First of all : THE VENUE. This place is one of Sydney’s hidden jewels, nestled at the bottom of a steep little street in Vaucluse, it’s basically a very cool looking timber boatshed perched on the water. It has 2 big decks. It has the most ridiculous view of Sydney harbour. It has genuine, lovely, warm character. It is just what it is. You should get married there.
Second : the styling! Ashley runs an amazing furniture and prop hire company, A Little Character, which caters for weddings, events, property styling and all that type of stuff. Her beautifully curated collection of rustic, pre-loved bits and pieces is out of this world. She has pews, sofas, side tables, folding chairs, suitcases, gramophones, Persian rugs, chalkboards and so much more – including that arbour wooooowwww. And it is all absolutely perfect. Plus Ashley is totally lovely. Do yourself a favour and have a look at the website.
Third : The weather. Perfection.
Fourth : Ashley’s dress. Floor length Rachel Gilbert. Gold sequins. Bronze sequins. Forest green sequins. Understated? No. Pick-your-jaw-up-off-the-floor-stunning? Yes. Yes yes yes. She looked like a magnificent, sparkly, happy, glamorous mermaid lady.
Fifth: The flowergirls. Just too cute for words in their tutus and baby’s breath halos.
And last but not least…. THE FLOWERS! Ash carried a bouquet of mostly magnolia and petite camellia foliage with a couple of perfect white roses and a stem or two of tuberose. I was not even going to try and compete with The Dress. The bridesmaids carried big bouquets of baby’s breath and matched the little girls delicate halos. The gorgeous arbour had a big spray of baby’s breath across the top, and urns with lovely little camellias at the front. Then there were just about 1000 of Ashley’s beautiful jars, bottles and vases scattered around with a bunch of white flowers in them – roses, strawberry bush, lisianthus, hyacinth, tulips and I don’t even remember what else.
Oh yes – and there was a chandelier draped with ivy and dotted with lisianthus. And hanging roses and candles on the deck.
And tealights. So. Many. Tealights.
I wasn’t there for the party, but it was catered by Salt Meats Cheese. We were there setting up at the same time and just…. yum.
I am so super happy Ashley and Marcus chose me to flowerise their wedding.
